FAQs

Are safety fences required around swimming pools?

Safety fences are not required to be around private swimming pools. There are no laws in place, as there are in other countries, that require you to erect safety fences around your swimming pool, however, you may wish to do so for peace of mind and to prevent any accidents occurring.

What is the safest pool fence?

The safest type of pool fence covers all sides of your swimming pool and is made of aluminium or mesh panels. Your pool fence should be 4 or 5 feet tall and be non-climbable (without cross rails that give a toe-hold) so that children can’t easily climb over. They should also not have any gaps over 4 inches, between or below the slats, to prevent children from climbing through.

How tall does a fence have to be around a swimming pool?

A swimming pool fence should be at least 4 feet tall to prevent children from climbing over, buy 5 feet tall fencing to be on the safe side.

What size pool can you have without a fence?

You can have any size private pool without a fence in the UK, as we are not subject to the same laws found in the United States and Australia.
